Our Position

What We Believe - high

Harvest Baptist Church is:

Independent – Not part of any convention, or national organization

Fundamental – Believe the entire Bible literally

Scriptures

We believe that every word of the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is the final in all matters of faith and practice.  For reasons of unity within the church and textual reliability we choose to use the King James Version of the Bible.  1 Timothy 3:16-17;  2 Peter 1:20-21

Sovereign God

We believe that God is a person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – three Persons and yet one God.  Deut. 6:4; Matt. 26:19; 1 Cor. 8:6

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man in order to redeem us.  He was born of a virgin, and is true God and true man. Luke 1:30-55; John 1:1-15; Phil. 2:5-8; Col. 1:15

Sin

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell through sin.  This sin brought not only physical death, but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God.  Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race, with an inherited sinful nature.  Gen. 1:26-27, 2:16, 3:16-19; Rom. 3:10-23, 6:23

Salvation

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered, died, and shed His blood as a substitutionary payment for the sins of the whole world.  Furthermore, He physically rose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven.  This gift of God is offered freely to all mankind and simple faith in this sacrifice is the only way of salvation for mankind.  This faith is demonstrated in response to the Lord by calling upon His name to be saved.  It is at this moment that a person is placed into the family of God (born again) and sealed forever with the Holy Spirit.  They can live with the full assurance that they have an eternal home in heaven waiting for them.  John 1:12-14, 3:16, 10:28-30; Rom. 5:8, 6:23; 10:9-13; Eph. 1:1-14, 2:8-10; 1 John 5:12

End Times

We believe that Jesus Christ will soon come again in the air to catch up His Church and to reward their service.  The unbelievers will be left behind and will go through a period called the Tribulation after which Christ will return to the earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule.  At the end of the one thousand years, unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever.  Believers will spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.  1 Thess. 4:16-18;  Rev. 19:11 – 20:13;  Matthew 24:29-42
